~~~~ I want to give you an example of how important it is to check out the various versions of the Bible when you are memorizing the Word.
You want to get the wording that moves your soul, not simply memorize from the Bible you ALWAYS use. That is “dry stuff”.
I want to give you the NIV, the NKJV and the NASB version(s) of Acts 4:12 and Isa. 33:6a.
For the Acts verse – I chose the complete verse of the NASB.
For the ISAIAH verse – I chose the beginning of the verse. It hit me strongly. It seemed like pounding a concrete nail into concrete. It works! It is stable! It is strong and not movable!
See what you think as you look at three Bibles and the different wording.
“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (BANG! BONG! BOOM! Those words hit right between the eyes!!!!!! No ifs, ands, or buts!!!!)
NOW. I want to give you one of my very favorite verses from the past nine and a half years. One that has given me umph – peace – and was the common denominator of many, many of my days when the tsunami was hitting the hardest.
“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”
“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation. The fear of the Lord is His treasure.”
“And He shall be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the Lord is his treasure.”
Take these two verses and go over them and see for yourself which one knocks you down!!!!!! Which one satisfies your umph that you want from a verse! Which one is absolutely COMPLETE in its wording, to your thinking.
In a few days I will give you another verse of mine and the one I have chosen to use is from none of these three. It happens this time that both verses are from the NASB, but frankly I don’t use it much any more as the NKJV is more accurate and I happen to have one that I can read easily as well. In reality you don’t have to have all of the Bibles in your possession as Bible Gateway.com gives you any verse you want to see. It is wonderful to have access to.
Have a good day. Marge
