There are times ~~~sometimes~~~ when you wish you could clip a page out of the last chapter you lived in your life and paste it in the present chapter of life. But, guess what!!!! It ain’t gonna happen that way.
There are times every holiday season that are like bad “hiccups” and they pop up unexpectedly and you can’t push them under the carpet, you have to deal with them.
Yes. My tenth holiday season, and hard spots are there. I’m okay. You muddle through and make it from one week to the next. Sometimes, you slip and it is 3 steps forward once again and 2 back. But always and forever – – you keep the focus on the 1 step that did not go back with the other 2. Always.
Maybe some year I will be able to attend and be blest with a Christmas musical but this is not THAT year…….yet!
I am doing a bible study on an Old Testament Christmas Card that was sent to all of us. With 500 years of silence happening between Malachi and Matthew, we could probably say several thousands of years ago the “Christmas Card” was given to us by way of the Prophet Isaiah. Here it is. Isaiah 9:6.
“For unto us a Child is born; Unto us a Son is given: And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
That makes for a beautiful Christmas Card. But look at it for a moment. “Child” ~~~ a “Child” is to be all of those names! Look at the name!!
Wonderful Counselor….. Mighty God ….. Everlasting Father…. Prince of Peace
That is heavy STUFF!!! Just think! The “Child” born so long ago in Bethlehem, before He was born, it was prophesied that He would be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He was also the great “I AM”. “Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you before Abraham was, I AM’ ” (John 8:58).
When I read John 8:58, my mind goes back to Genesis 1:26, where it reads; “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness……….’ “.
John begins his writings in the Book of John with these words. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3).
Do you understand that!!!!???!!!! I didn’t think so! I can’t begin to. I simply cannot. I have to take it by faith – it is too much for this mind of mine to grasp.
The Great I AM cares about puny you and puny me – – that ought to cause you to think twice about the content of your life right now. It does me, for sure.
Obviously~~~~~~ He IS able!
Lord! Change me!!!! Us!!!!
